Job Requirements: Supports the mission of the Tuck School of Business through the creation of written news, events coverage, and alumni-focused content for Tucks websites, publications, alumni portal, media outreach, and related communications. As part of the Tuck news team, works closely with the directors of Tuck Communications to implement the schools communications strategy.

Writing

Provides coverage of news and events for the Tuck Schools external websites, alumni portal, multimedia outlets, and for use in media outreach. Researches and plans coverage of events and visitors. Writes articles about specific industries for an alumni audience. Coordinates written articles with video capture. Works closely with the directors and the Tuck news team to conceive story ideas. Writes well in a variety of genres. Works closely with the news team, photographer, videographer, and editors. Works with internal clients to create content to reach a variety of audiences. Works independently and uses judgment to create content that meets the strategic goals of the school.

Management & Editing

Oversees and works with other content providers at the school. Conceives and provides editorial direction for video coverage of events and visitors. Is a member of the Deans content committee meetings. Other duties as assigned. Budgetary Responsibilities

Oversees budget development and cost expenditures in conjunction with clients and directors for individual communications projects, assuring adherence to Tuck and Dartmouth standards. Requirements

Excellent writer, able to communicate complex business issues in clear, concise prose.

Ability to work in deadline-driven, team-oriented news environment.

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, and story structure.

Strong copy editing and proofreading skills.

Strong independent judgment capability and self motivation.

Proven ability to generate story ideas.

Knowledge of the standards of good journalism, including sound reporting and thorough fact-checking.

Creativity, energy, and follow through.

Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 to 7 years of writing experience in a news or magazine publishing environment. Background in daily news reporting, narrative journalism/feature writing. Association or mission-based journalism experience a plus.
